Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A fixed-dose ophthalmic combination of three agents—bimatoprost (a prostaglandin analog), brimonidine tartrate (an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist), and timolol (a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker)—used to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. This triple fixed combination is designed for patients whose IOP is not adequately controlled with dual-combination therapy. Bimatoprost increases aqueous humor outflow via the uveoscleral pathway; brimonidine decreases aqueous humor production and increases uveoscleral outflow; timolol reduces aqueous humor production by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors in the ciliary body. The product has demonstrated superior efficacy over dual combinations and is approved in several countries including Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico[1][3][6].
