Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bio-Oss Collagen + Emdogain is a combination therapy used in regenerative periodontal surgery to treat intrabony (angular) defects caused by periodontitis. Bio-Oss Collagen, produced by Geistlich, is a bone substitute material composed of 90% bovine-derived hydroxyapatite granules and 10% porcine collagen, which acts as a scaffold for new bone formation. Emdogain, produced by Straumann, is a biological product containing enamel matrix proteins (primarily amelogenins) that mimic the natural process of tooth development to induce the regeneration of the periodontal attachment apparatus. In clinical trials conducted by the Medical University of Sofia, this combination has been evaluated for its ability to reduce probing pocket depth and improve clinical attachment levels compared to other regenerative materials like hyaluronic acid.
