Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bioithas Hair+ is a probiotic-based nutraceutical supplement developed by Bioithas for the management of hair health and alopecia, specifically alopecia areata. The formulation consists of two specific probiotic strains, *Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus* CECT 30580 and *Bifidobacterium longum* CECT 30616, combined with zinc gluconate, biotin, and lutein extracted from *Tagetes erecta*. The supplement functions through the gut-skin axis; the included probiotic strains are selected for their inability to metabolize biotin, thereby preventing the degradation of this essential vitamin by gut flora and increasing its systemic bioavailability for hair follicles. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this probiotic combination can reduce the surface area of alopecia plaques and improve overall hair density. It is currently marketed as a food supplement in capsule form.
