Overview

This is a combination immunotherapy product containing standardized extracts of birch pollen allergens and various grass pollen allergens. It is used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in patients who are sensitized to both birch and grass pollens. The mechanism involves gradual exposure to these specific allergens via subcutaneous, sublingual, or intralymphatic routes to induce immune tolerance. Clinical studies have shown that this combination can reduce allergy symptoms, medication use, and improve quality of life in polysensitized patients. Immunological changes observed include increased T regulatory cell frequencies and elevated allergen-specific IgG4 levels[1][2][7]. The efficacy may be modest due to dose splitting between the two components but safety profiles are favorable.
