Overview

Bis(Adenosine)-5'-Pentaphosphate is a synthetic dinucleotide composed of two adenosine molecules linked via a pentaphosphate chain at their 5' positions. It is also known as diadenosine pentaphosphate or Ap5A. This compound acts as a vasoconstrictor agent and has been identified as an Escherichia coli metabolite. In biological systems, it can interact with enzymes such as adenylate kinase, which plays a role in cellular energy homeostasis by catalyzing the reversible transfer of phosphate groups between ATP and AMP[1][2]. Bis(Adenosine)-5'-Pentaphosphate is primarily used experimentally to study nucleotide metabolism and purinergic signaling pathways.
