Overview
**Bismuth subcitrate potassium + metronidazole + tetracycline hydrochloride** is an oral fixed-dose antibacterial combination marketed as **Pylera** for eradication of *Helicobacter pylori* in patients with duodenal ulcer disease, used together with omeprazole. It combines a bismuth salt with metronidazole, a nitroimidazole antimicrobial that forms DNA-damaging reduced intermediates in susceptible bacteria, and tetracycline, which inhibits bacterial protein synthesis through the 30S ribosomal subunit. The United States product is supplied as capsules containing 140 mg bismuth subcitrate potassium, 125 mg metronidazole, and 125 mg tetracycline hydrochloride per capsule.
