Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bisoprolol + perindopril is a fixed-dose combination drug used primarily for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris, and to reduce cardiovascular risk in patients with coronary artery disease or a history of myocardial infarction. Bisoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that lowers heart rate, reduces cardiac output, and decreases blood pressure by antagonizing β1-adrenoceptors in the heart. Perindopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and further reduction in blood pressure. The combination targets both sympathetic nervous system activity (via beta-blockade) and the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (via ACE inhibition), providing additive antihypertensive effects as well as benefits for patients with stable coronary artery disease or prior myocardial infarction[4][5][8].
