Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bisoprolol + rosuvastatin is a fixed-dose combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for cardiovascular risk management. Bisoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist (beta blocker) that reduces heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure by competitively inhibiting beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart and decreasing renin secretion from the kidneys[4]. Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers cholesterol levels by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol biosynthesis in the liver, leading to reduced plasma LDL and VLDL concentrations[5][6]. The combination targets both hypertension/heart failure (via bisoprolol) and hyperlipidemia/cardiovascular risk reduction (via rosuvastatin), making it suitable for patients requiring both blood pressure and lipid control. Fixed-dose combinations may improve adherence in patients with comorbid conditions[3].
