B-OPV-Vaxtrials S.A.-poliomyelitis refers to the bivalent oral poliovirus vaccine (bOPV) evaluated in clinical trials sponsored by Vaxtrials S.A. This vaccine is a live-attenuated preparation containing Sabin strains of poliovirus types 1 and 3. It is designed to provide protection against poliomyelitis by inducing both systemic neutralizing antibodies and local intestinal mucosal immunity, which is critical for interrupting person-to-person transmission. In the specific Phase II study context, it is administered concomitantly with inactivated poliovirus vaccines (IPV) to assess safety and the impact on intestinal shedding of the virus in infants.
