Overview
Bleomycin + cisplatin is a chemotherapy combination used primarily for treating germ cell tumors. Bleomycin is a cytotoxic glycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits DNA metabolism, while cisplatin is a platinum-based drug that forms DNA crosslinks, preventing cell division. This combination is often administered with etoposide in a regimen known as BEP (Bleomycin, Etoposide, Cisplatin), which is the standard of care treatment for intermediate and poor-risk germ cell tumors[2][5]. The combination works by destroying quickly dividing cells, such as cancer cells[2].
