Overview
Blink Tears is a sterile, buffered, lubricating ophthalmic solution containing sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) as its primary active ingredient. It is indicated for the temporary relief of burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dryness of the eye or exposure to wind or sun. Sodium hyaluronate is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan that provides viscoelastic properties, enhancing tear film stability and protecting the ocular surface through its high water-binding capacity. Originally developed by Abbott Medical Optics (now part of Johnson & Johnson Vision), the product has been evaluated in clinical trials sponsored by Innovative Medical to assess its efficacy in managing dry eye symptoms and improving visual performance in patients following cataract surgery with multifocal intraocular lens implantation.
