Overview

BMD006 + ivonescimab is a combination therapy consisting of an inhaled mRNA-based tumor-associated antigen (TAA) vaccine and a bispecific antibody targeting PD-1 and VEGF. BMD006 is an off-the-shelf dry powder vaccine that delivers mRNA sequences encoding specific TAAs directly to the lungs via inhalation. For patients with primary lung cancer, the vaccine contains six mRNA sequences, while for those with metastatic solid tumors in the lungs, it contains four mRNA sequences encoding melanoma-associated antigens. Ivonescimab (AK112) is a humanized bispecific antibody that simultaneously blocks the Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) checkpoint and inhibits Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)-mediated angiogenesis. This combination is being developed by the Cancer Institute and Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, to treat advanced lung cancer and solid tumors with lung metastasis by leveraging the localized immune stimulation of the mRNA vaccine alongside the systemic checkpoint inhibition and anti-angiogenic effects of the bispecific antibody.
