Overview

BMS-986094 + daclatasvir is an investigational oral combination regimen developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. BMS-986094 is a nucleotide analog NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase inhibitor, while daclatasvir is a small molecule inhibitor targeting the HCV NS5A protein, both designed to block HCV replication through complementary mechanisms. The combination was part of direct-acting antiviral (DAA) regimens aiming for interferon-free HCV therapy. Development was discontinued in phase II due to serious safety concerns, specifically related to BMS-986094’s unexpected heart and kidney toxicities, including cardiomyopathy and heart failure. The regimen never reached advanced stages of clinical development due to these adverse events[1][2][4][5].
