Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BMS-986156 + nivolumab** is a combination therapy studied for advanced solid tumors, consisting of BMS-986156—a fully human IgG1 agonist monoclonal antibody targeting **glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor (GITR)**—and **nivolumab**, a monoclonal antibody that blocks the **programmed death-1 (PD-1) receptor**. BMS-986156 activates effector T cells and potentially reduces/inactivates regulatory T cells, while nivolumab releases the brakes on anti-tumor immune responses by preventing PD-1-mediated inhibition of T cell activity. The combination increases peripheral T cell and NK cell proliferation and activation, but has shown limited intratumoral T cell activation and modest antitumor activity in clinical studies of unselected cancer patients[1][2][3][4].
