Overview

BMS-986278 + pirfenidone is an experimental **combination therapy** comprising BMS-986278 (also known as admilparant), a small molecule oral antagonist of lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPA1), and pirfenidone, an approved antifibrotic agent. BMS-986278 inhibits LPA1 signaling, which is implicated in the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis while pirfenidone exerts antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects, primarily used for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The combination is being evaluated for its potential to reduce lung function decline in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF), with clinical trials examining safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy. The combination is still in clinical development, most notably in Phase 2 and Phase 3 studies[1][2][3][4][5][7].
