Overview

BMX-001 + paclitaxel is an investigational **combination therapy** composed of BMX-001, a redox-active manganese metalloporphyrin small molecule, and paclitaxel, a widely used chemotherapeutic agent. BMX-001 is designed to *selectively modulate cellular oxidative stress*; in tumor cells, it inhibits NF-κB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) and HIF-1α (hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha), suppressing tumor proliferation and angiogenesis, while in normal cells it acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, thus protecting against chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Preclinical and early clinical studies suggest the combination can enhance anti-tumor activity and significantly reduce paclitaxel-induced neurotoxicity, especially in chemoresistant ovarian and endometrial cancers. The combination is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 trials for these indications[1][2][3][5][6][7].
