BNP7787 + cisplatin + docetaxel is a combination regimen under investigation for cancer treatment. BNP7787 (also known as Tavocept or dimesna) is a water-soluble disulfide chemoprotective agent designed to reduce the toxicities associated with platinum-based chemotherapy agents such as cisplatin and taxanes like docetaxel. Mechanistically distinct from other sulfur-containing chemoprotectants (e.g., mesna and amifostine), BNP7787 acts by modulating thiol-disulfide balance and forming covalent adducts with proteins such as human thioredoxin. It also inhibits gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), which may contribute to its nephroprotective effects against cisplatin-induced kidney toxicity[1][5][8]. Clinical studies have shown that co-administration of BNP7787 does not interfere with the antitumor efficacy of platinum compounds and may allow higher dosing by reducing dose-limiting toxicities[1][6]. The combination has been evaluated in clinical trials for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other solid tumors[5][6].
