Overview

BNT116 + cemiplimab is an investigational combination therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). BNT116 is an intravenously administered RNA-lipoplex therapeutic cancer vaccine that contains six mRNAs encoding tumor-associated antigens commonly expressed in NSCLC. It is designed to stimulate the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells. Cemiplimab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, functioning as a checkpoint inhibitor to enhance T-cell mediated anti-tumor responses. The combination aims to improve efficacy by both priming the immune system with tumor antigens (via BNT116) and releasing inhibitory signals on T-cells (via cemiplimab). This regimen is currently being evaluated in phase 2 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and efficacy compared to cemiplimab monotherapy in patients with advanced NSCLC[1][2][5][6][7][8].
