BNT162b2 + seasonal inactivated influenza vaccine refers to the coadministration of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (Comirnaty) and a standard seasonal inactivated influenza vaccine (SIIV). This regimen was evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials, such as NCT05310084, to determine the safety and immunogenicity of simultaneous administration in adults. BNT162b2 is a nucleoside-modified mRNA vaccine formulated in lipid nanoparticles that encodes the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein, providing protection against COVID-19. The SIIV component consists of inactivated influenza virus particles or subunits designed to protect against circulating seasonal flu strains. Clinical data from these trials demonstrated that coadministration elicited noninferior immune responses compared to separate administration, with an acceptable safety profile, supporting the feasibility of simultaneous vaccination for both respiratory pathogens.
