Overview

This entry refers to a co-administration regimen consisting of the bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (BNT162b2) and the quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (VaxigripTetra). The bivalent mRNA vaccine, developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, targets the spike protein of the original SARS-CoV-2 strain and the Omicron BA.4/BA.5 variants. VaxigripTetra, developed by Sanofi, is a split-virion inactivated vaccine containing antigens from four influenza strains: two influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B (Victoria and Yamagata lineages). This combination is being evaluated in clinical trials, such as those conducted by the Prince of Songkla University, to assess the safety and immunogenicity of simultaneous booster administration for both COVID-19 and seasonal influenza in healthy adults.
