Overview

Boceprevir + etravirine is a drug combination studied for potential use in HIV/HCV co-infected patients. Boceprevir is an HCV protease inhibitor used to treat chronic hepatitis C infection, while etravirine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) used in the treatment of HIV-1 infections. When administered together, pharmacokinetic interactions occur: etravirine exposure decreases (AUC by 23%, Cmax by 24%, and Cmin by 29%) in the presence of boceprevir, while boceprevir exposure shows minimal changes (AUC and Cmax increased by 10%, C8 decreased by 12%). The combination can be used without dose adjustments, but is not recommended when other drugs that may further decrease etravirine exposure are present.
