Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a vaginal combination therapy consisting of boric acid and two probiotic bacterial strains, *Lactobacillus gasseri* and *Lactobacillus rhamnosus*. Boric acid serves as a mild antiseptic and antifungal agent, particularly useful for recurrent or resistant vulvovaginal candidiasis. The lactobacilli strains are intended to recolonize the vaginal environment, producing lactic acid to maintain a low pH and inhibiting the growth of pathogens like *Gardnerella vaginalis* and *Candida* species. Developed by Laboratorios Ordesa, the formulation is delivered via vaginal capsules and has been evaluated in pilot clinical trials for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis and vaginal candidiasis.
