Overview

This is a three-drug combination regimen used primarily for multiple myeloma treatment. The combination leverages synergistic effects between the proteasome inhibitor bortezomib, the corticosteroid dexamethasone, and the anthracycline chemotherapy agent doxorubicin in its liposomal formulation. Bortezomib inhibits the 26S proteasome, disrupting protein degradation and causing cancer cell death. Dexamethasone provides anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin delivers the cytotoxic agent doxorubicin with improved pharmacokinetics and reduced cardiotoxicity compared to conventional doxorubicin.
