Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bortezomib + dexamethasone + ifosfamide is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of hematologic malignancies, such as multiple myeloma and certain lymphomas. Bortezomib is a proteasome inhibitor that disrupts protein degradation, leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties, often used to enhance the cytotoxic effects of other agents and reduce inflammation. Ifosfamide is an alkylating agent that interferes with DNA replication and transcription, resulting in cell death. This combination leverages different mechanisms of action to target malignant plasma cells or lymphocytes more effectively than single-agent therapy[1][2][4].
