bosentan (Hanmi Pharmaceutical)

HGP1206 is a generic formulation of bosentan, a dual endothelin receptor antagonist (ERA), developed by Hanmi Pharmaceutical. Bosentan acts by competitively binding to both endothelin A (ETA) and endothelin B (ETB) receptors in the pulmonary vasculature, thereby inhibiting the potent vasoconstrictive and proliferative effects of endothelin-1. This mechanism leads to vasodilation, reduced pulmonary vascular resistance, and improved exercise capacity in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). HGP1206 was specifically developed as a 125 mg tablet to provide a bioequivalent alternative to the reference drug Traclear, and it has been marketed by Hanmi Pharmaceutical under the brand name Bosentab in South Korea.
