Overview

This drug is a **combination therapy** containing **bovhyaluronidase azoximer** and **tamsulosin**, evaluated primarily for the treatment of **lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)**. Bovhyaluronidase azoximer (marketed as Longidaza) is a conjugate of bovine hyaluronidase and a synthetic copolymer (azoximer), improving enzymatic stability and prolonging action. It degrades glycosaminoglycans such as hyaluronic acid, decreasing tissue viscosity and promoting tissue permeability, with anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antioxidant activities[2][4][1]. Tamsulosin is a selective antagonist of α1A-adrenergic receptors, mainly in the prostate and bladder neck, resulting in the relaxation of smooth muscle and improved urine flow[7][3]. The combination is reported to provide greater efficiency and safety in patients with BPH compared to tamsulosin monotherapy[1].
