Bovine Ephemeral Fever Vaccine (MEVAC) is an inactivated veterinary vaccine developed by Middle East for Vaccines (MEVAC) for the immunization of ruminants, particularly cattle, against Bovine Ephemeral Fever (BEF). BEF, also known as "three-day sickness," is an arthropod-borne viral disease caused by the Bovine Ephemeral Fever Virus (BEFV), a member of the Rhabdoviridae family. The disease is characterized by sudden high fever, lameness, joint pain, and a significant drop in milk production in dairy cattle. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies against the virus, providing protective immunity and reducing the clinical severity and economic impact of outbreaks in livestock populations.
