Overview

BPM31510 + vitamin K is an investigational combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of recurrent high-grade gliomas (HGG), including glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma. BPM31510 is a proprietary lipid nanodispersion of ubidecarenone (oxidized Coenzyme Q10) developed by BPGbio. Its mechanism of action involves reversing the Warburg effect by shifting cancer cell metabolism from anaerobic glycolysis to mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. This metabolic reprogramming induces the production of mitochondrial superoxide and activates apoptotic pathways in tumor cells. Vitamin K is co-administered in clinical protocols to mitigate potential coagulopathy, as high-dose ubidecarenone can interfere with vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. The combination has been studied in Phase I trials led by investigators such as Seema Nagpal at Stanford University for patients who have progressed on bevacizumab-containing regimens.
