Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BPZE1 + Tdap vaccine is a **combination immunization strategy** comprising two vaccines used together: - **BPZE1**: A live attenuated, genetically modified *Bordetella pertussis* (whooping cough) vaccine delivered intranasally. BPZE1 is designed to induce both mucosal (secretory IgA) and systemic immunity against pertussis, and it expresses the full set of *B. pertussis* antigens. - **Tdap vaccine**: An intramuscular, acellular combination vaccine containing tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis components (e.g., Boostrix). Together, this regimen is under investigation for inducing both strong systemic and mucosal immunity to pertussis (superior to Tdap alone), without reducing tetanus or diphtheria responses, and with a favorable safety profile. Key indication is the **prevention of pertussis (whooping cough)** in children and potentially other groups. BPZE1 is developed by ILiAD Biotechnologies and co-administered with Tdap (commercially available vaccines like Boostrix).
