Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Brexpiprazole (OPC-34712) is an atypical antipsychotic developed as a serotonin-dopamine activity modulator. It acts as a partial agonist at serotonin 1A and dopamine D2 receptors, and as an antagonist at serotonin 2A receptors. In clinical trials, "brexpiprazole + ADT" refers to the use of brexpiprazole in combination with an antidepressant treatment (ADT), such as desvenlafaxine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, or venlafaxine. This combination has been studied primarily for adjunctive treatment in adults with major depressive disorder who have had inadequate response to standard antidepressants[1][3][5].
