Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of three active pharmaceutical ingredients used in the management of elevated intraocular pressure, primarily for conditions such as open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Brimonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that decreases aqueous humor production and increases uveoscleral outflow. Timolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker that reduces aqueous humor production by blocking beta receptors in the ciliary body. Travoprost is a prostaglandin F2α analog that increases the outflow of aqueous humor through the trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral pathway. The combination aims to maximize intraocular pressure reduction by targeting multiple mechanisms involved in fluid dynamics within the eye[1][4][5]. This triple therapy may be used when monotherapy or dual therapy does not achieve sufficient intraocular pressure control.
