BRM421 is a first-in-class synthetic peptide ophthalmic solution developed by BRIM Biotechnology for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED). It is a 29-amino acid peptide derived from Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor (PEDF), referred to as PEDF-Derived Short Peptide (PDSP). The drug acts through a unique regenerative mechanism, stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of corneal limbal epithelial stem cells to repair corneal damage and accelerate the healing process. It also promotes the proliferation and differentiation of goblet cells, which enhances tear quality and stability. BRM421 has completed Phase 2 trials and is currently undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation in the United States.
