Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Brompheniramine + phenylephrine is a combination medication consisting of an antihistamine (brompheniramine) and a decongestant (phenylephrine). It is used to temporarily relieve symptoms associated with allergies or the common cold such as sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, nasal congestion, and itching of the nose or throat. Brompheniramine works by blocking histamine H1 receptor to reduce allergic symptoms. Phenylephrine acts as an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that constricts blood vessels in the nasal passages to decrease congestion. This combination does not treat infections but provides symptomatic relief for upper respiratory conditions[1][2][3][4].
