Drug intelligence / Profile preview
D'TAPP Elixir is an over-the-counter (OTC) fixed-dose combination oral solution developed by National Pharmaceutical. It contains three active ingredients: brompheniramine (an antihistamine), phenylephrine (a decongestant), and phenylpropanolamine (a decongestant and sympathomimetic agent). Brompheniramine acts as an antagonist at the histamine H1 receptor to alleviate allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes. Phenylephrine and phenylpropanolamine act as agonists at alpha-adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction in the nasal mucosa to relieve nasal and sinus congestion. Phenylpropanolamine also stimulates the release of norepinephrine and inhibits its reuptake. D'TAPP Elixir is approved in Hong Kong (H.K. Registration Number HK-05475) for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, allergic rhinitis, and nasal congestion.
