**BSA@Se-CA** is an experimental nanocomposite therapeutic system consisting of calycosin loaded by self-assembly onto bovine serum albumin-stabilized selenium nanoparticles. It was reported as an intraperitoneally administered preclinical treatment for sepsis in mice. The formulation enhanced glutathione peroxidase activity and reactive oxygen species scavenging, reduced inflammatory mediators including nitric oxide, interleukin-6, interleukin-1 beta, and tumor necrosis factor alpha, and inhibited nuclear factor kappa B signaling in inflammatory macrophages.
