BT200 + desmopressin is a combination of the anti-von Willebrand factor (VWF) aptamer BT200 and the vasopressin analogue desmopressin. **BT200** is a third-generation aptamer that selectively binds and inhibits VWF, a key mediator of platelet adhesion and thrombus formation under high shear conditions. Its mechanism involves directly blocking VWF-dependent platelet function and reducing VWF activity. **Desmopressin** stimulates VWF release from endothelial stores, resulting in elevated plasma VWF levels. This combination is primarily investigated in ex vivo models to assess BT200's capacity to inhibit platelet function after desmopressin-induced increases in VWF. In these studies, higher concentrations of BT200 are necessary to counteract the increased VWF induced by desmopressin. The primary indication under development for BT200 (and thus this combination experimentally) is secondary prevention in stroke and thrombotic disorders where elevated VWF contributes to pathology[1][2].
