Overview

This is a combination of four active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Budesonide** is a synthetic corticosteroid with potent glucocorticoid activity, used primarily for its anti-inflammatory effects in the treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), allergic rhinitis, and certain inflammatory bowel diseases. It works by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating gene expression to suppress inflammation[6]. - **Fluticasone** is also a synthetic corticosteroid with strong anti-inflammatory properties, commonly used in inhaled or intranasal forms for asthma and allergic rhinitis. Like budesonide, it acts via the glucocorticoid receptor to reduce airway inflammation. - **Hydroxyurea** is an antimetabolite chemotherapeutic agent that inhibits ribonucleotide reductase, leading to decreased DNA synthesis. It is mainly indicated for hematologic malignancies such as chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), essential thrombocythemia, polycythemia vera, and sickle cell anemia[7]. - **Montelukast** is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors in the airways. This reduces bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation associated with asthma and allergic rhinitis[8]. There are no known approved pharmaceutical products or clinical evidence supporting the use of this specific four-drug combination as a single therapy.
