Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Budesonide + formoterol is a fixed-dose combination inhaled medication used for the maintenance treatment of asthma in patients aged 6 years and older, as well as for the maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction and reduction of exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Budesonide is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways, while formoterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to improve airflow. The combination provides both anti-inflammatory effects from budesonide and bronchodilation from formoterol, leading to improved symptom control in asthma and COPD[1][2][5][8].
