budesonide + formoterol (Zambon)

Z7200 is a fixed-dose combination drug candidate developed by Zambon for the treatment of asthma. It consists of budesonide, an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) with potent anti-inflammatory activity, and formoterol fumarate, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that provides rapid and long-lasting bronchodilation. Z7200 is being developed as a generic or alternative formulation to the reference product Symbicort Turbohaler. Clinical studies have utilized functional respiratory imaging (FRI) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to evaluate particle deposition and lung function, alongside standard pharmacokinetic and bioequivalence assessments in both healthy volunteers and asthmatic patients.
