Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Budesonide and hydrocortisone are both corticosteroid medications that can be used together, though there is a minor drug interaction between them. Budesonide is a potent synthetic corticosteroid (200 times stronger than cortisol and 15 times stronger than prednisolone) used to treat various inflammatory conditions including asthma, COPD, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and allergic rhinitis. Hydrocortisone is a naturally occurring corticosteroid used for various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. When combined, the metabolism of hydrocortisone can be increased by budesonide, potentially reducing hydrocortisone's effectiveness.
