Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BUL03 is a specific orodispersible tablet formulation of **budesonide**, a synthetic corticosteroid, developed by **Dr. Falk Pharma GmbH** for the treatment of **eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE)**. The formulation is designed to dissolve on the tongue and be swallowed with saliva, which facilitates a prolonged contact time with the esophageal mucosa, allowing for a localized anti-inflammatory effect. Budesonide acts as a potent glucocorticoid receptor agonist, inhibiting the recruitment and activation of inflammatory cells such as eosinophils, thereby reducing esophageal inflammation and improving clinical symptoms like dysphagia. Marketed under the brand name **Jorveza**, it was the first drug specifically approved in the European Union for EoE and has undergone Phase 3 clinical evaluation in the United States to support regulatory submission.
