Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of buspirone, an anxiolytic agent, and perphenazine, a phenothiazine antipsychotic. This combination has been studied as an alternative treatment for schizophrenia patients who experienced weight gain on other antipsychotic medications such as olanzapine or risperidone. In a pilot study, this combination showed no relapse of psychotic symptoms, no exacerbation of extrapyramidal side effects, and resulted in weight reduction.
