Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of busulfan, an alkylating agent, and dexamethasone, a corticosteroid. This combination is primarily used as part of conditioning regimens prior to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for patients with hematological malignancies, particularly chronic myeloid leukemia. Busulfan damages DNA in rapidly dividing cells, while dexamethasone provides anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. When used together in transplantation protocols, dexamethasone helps prevent nausea and vomiting associated with high-dose busulfan chemotherapy.
