Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Butalbital + acetaminophen is a combination analgesic product developed by Senores Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of tension headaches and migraines. The formulation consists of two active ingredients: butalbital, a barbiturate that acts as a central nervous system (CNS) depressant to relieve tension and promote muscle relaxation, and acetaminophen (paracetamol), a non-aspirin analgesic and antipyretic that provides pain relief and fever reduction. This small molecule combination is available as an oral tablet in multiple strengths, including 50 mg/300 mg, 25 mg/325 mg, and 50 mg/325 mg. It is approved as a generic alternative to branded products like Phrenilin and is indicated for the symptomatic relief of the symptom complex of tension (or muscle contraction) headaches.
