Butaphosphan + cyanocobalamin is a veterinary combination drug marketed under the brand name Catosal. It was originally developed by Bayer Animal Health and is now part of the Elanco portfolio following Elanco's acquisition of Bayer's animal health business. The formulation contains butaphosphan, an organic phosphorus compound, and cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12). It functions as a metabolic stimulant, roborant, and tonic, primarily used in livestock such as cattle, sheep, and pigs. Butaphosphan serves as a source of phosphorus and promotes gluconeogenesis, while cyanocobalamin acts as a vital cofactor in the tricarboxylic acid cycle and supports red blood cell production.
