Overview

BV100 + polymyxin B is a combination therapy under investigation for the treatment of ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP) suspected or confirmed to be caused by carbapenem-resistant *Acinetobacter baumannii* (CRAB). BV100 is being developed as a novel antibiotic targeting multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, while polymyxin B is an established polypeptide antibiotic that disrupts the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria by binding to lipopolysaccharides and displacing stabilizing cations, leading to increased membrane permeability and cell death. The combination aims to enhance antibacterial efficacy against highly resistant pathogens. In Phase 2 clinical studies, this regimen has shown promising safety and tolerability profiles[3][5][7].
