BV100 + polymyxin B + ceftazidime + avibactam is an experimental combination antibiotic regimen developed by BioVersys AG for the treatment of severe infections caused by Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii calcoaceticus complex (CRABC). The regimen centers on BV100, a novel intravenous formulation of rifabutin that targets bacterial RNA polymerase and exhibits active uptake into Gram-negative bacteria. It is combined with low-dose polymyxin B (a membrane-disrupting agent) and ceftazidime/avibactam (a cephalosporin/beta-lactamase inhibitor combination) to provide a synergistic approach against multi-drug resistant pathogens. This combination is primarily being evaluated for hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP), ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP), bloodstream infections (BSI), and meningitis/ventriculitis.
