Overview
This combination consists of **cabazitaxel**, a microtubule inhibitor approved for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) previously treated with docetaxel, and **midazolam**, a benzodiazepine primarily used for sedation, anxiolysis, and anesthesia. Cabazitaxel disrupts microtubule function, leading to cancer cell apoptosis. Midazolam acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA-A receptor, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission. Although cabazitaxel and midazolam can be co-administered clinically, there is no known therapeutic use for their fixed combination; their primary relevance is in drug-drug interaction studies where cabazitaxel exposure can increase when combined with midazolam due to CYP3A4 metabolism[1][2].
