cabazitaxel + pegfilgrastim

A combination regimen consisting of the taxane antineoplastic agent **cabazitaxel** and the long-acting hematopoietic growth factor **pegfilgrastim**. Cabazitaxel is a semi-synthetic derivative of a natural taxoid that binds to and stabilizes tubulin, promoting its assembly into microtubules while simultaneously inhibiting their disassembly. This action leads to the stabilization of microtubules, resulting in the inhibition of mitotic and interphase cellular functions, ultimately causing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Pegfilgrastim is a PEGylated form of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) that binds to the G-CSF receptor to stimulate the survival, proliferation, differentiation, and function of neutrophil precursors and mature neutrophils. In clinical practice, pegfilgrastim is administered as supportive care to mitigate the risk of febrile neutropenia, a common and potentially life-threatening hematological toxicity associated with cabazitaxel chemotherapy, particularly in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
