Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcipotriene + clobetasol propionate is a topical combination drug used primarily for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. Calcipotriene is a synthetic vitamin D3 analog that works by regulating the growth and differentiation of skin cells, thereby reducing the excessive proliferation seen in psoriatic lesions. Clobetasol propionate is a super-potent corticosteroid that acts by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, inhibiting pro-inflammatory signals, decreasing vasodilation and capillary permeability, and suppressing leukocyte migration to sites of inflammation. The combination leverages both anti-proliferative (calcipotriene) and anti-inflammatory (clobetasol) mechanisms to improve symptoms associated with psoriasis[1][2][3][5].
